This year’s 47th Annual Bob Wills Day celebration is just around the corner. Volunteers of the Bob Wills Foundation in Turkey, Texas, are busy preparing for the big event. Wednesday, April 25th from 2-4 p.m., a Gospel Music Jubilee will be held at the Gem Theatre, downtown, for $10. Music will be performed by Jimmy Burson, Cecil White, Joel and Sharon Brownlee, and Johnny Woodard. Thursday, April 26th we will be doing an all star tribute to the great legends of country music! Dallas Wayne, of Sirius XM's Willie's Roadhouse will be here to host this special night. We will also be featuring Billy Mata, Jason Roberts, and other special guests. This will be a special event, unlike anything we have done before! Come out and join us 7pm-11pm dance will be held in the Turkey High School. Tickets will be available at the door for $20. Don’t forget about the Friday night line up: Friends of the Texas Playboys, Billy Mata and Jason Roberts at 5:30p.m.- 7:30p.m. and Jake Hooker and the Outsiders 8:00p.m.-12a.m. Tickets will be available at the door for $20. Following the parade at 10 a.m. don’t forget to visit all of our booths and local merchants in Turkey. Vendors will be setup outside the Turkey High School Friday and Saturday. Make sure to stop by and enjoy our recently remodeled museum. The Museum will also be open all week with live music, Thursday Friday, and Saturday. Join us for a delicious BBQ lunch catered by K Bryant's Catering in front of the cafeteria 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m. At 2:30 come take a break at the old football field and enjoy a free outdoor concert. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy music by Friends of the Texas Playboys Leon Rausch, Jimmy Burson, & Joe Settlemires and special guests, Texas Fiddleman - Jason Roberts and Former Western Swing Entertainer of the Year - Billy Mata. Dr. Charles Townsend will be the Master of Ceremonies. Saturday night beginning at 5:30 p.m. the South Plains College Western Swing band will be kicking off the dance followed by Jody Nix and the Texas Cowboys. Tickets will be available at the door for $20. We hope to see y’all at the 47th annual Bob Wills Day celebration. Bring your dancing shoes and get ready to enjoy a full weekend of good ole’ Western Swing, friends, and fun!
